- Scripture: “What is man that thou are mindful of him? And the son of man that thou visitest him? For thou has made him a little lower than the angels and has crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:” Psalms 8:4-6

In last weeks Calvary temple classics post “Ye Are Gods Part 2” we saw in Psalms 8 that Satan has been placed beneath our feet. Today, we want to look at another phrase in Psalms 8 that shows us who we are in Him and that is the part that states that “we have been made a little lower than the angels”. What’s interesting about this phrase is the interpretation of the word “angels”. In this verse the word for angels in the Hebrew (the original language this was written in) is ELOHIYM and this word ELOHIYM is interpreted God. So, as we look at this more carefully we can actually read this verse this way: “For thou has made him a little lower than God”. What a powerful statement! We have been made a little lower than almighty God himself! What power! What victory! What authority He has given us!
Now if you are like me, your mind is going tilt right now. So Jason, you are saying we have been made a little lower than God himself? No, I’m not saying that; the Word of God is saying that. In John 10:34 the Bible declares “Ye are Gods” (also referenced in Psalms 82:6). So what does this mean? It means that we are partakers of His divine nature. It means that God has given us dominion over every living thing. It means that the only way we are lower than God is that He is the creator and we are the creation. We can do ANYTHING He can do by faith. You say, “That’s crazy talk! That’s fanatical.” Do you know what the word “fanatic” means when it is usually said about Christians? It means somebody who believes the Word of God more than you do. So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at a Biblical example in the life of Moses. In Exodus 21 we see that God told Moses to part the Red sea. It wasn’t God that parted the Red Sea; it was Moses. Moses held up his rod, and by the power of God through him, he parted the red sea. Brothers and sisters, that same amazing power lies in us as well!
How can a sinner like me do something like this? Through the redemptive work of Jesus. He was made sin with our sin so that we can be made righteous with His righteousness. Because of His obedience unto death, we have been restored back to God the way He originally intended it to be before Adam sinned. Jesus was sinless perfection! You say, “Yeah but that was Jesus, the Son of God. It was easy for Him.” Let me tell you something: Jesus did not live as a god on this earth. He lived totally subservient to the covenant promises and the will of God. What He can do, YOU CAN DO. In fact John 14:12 tells us that we will do greater works than Jesus did! Remember some of the things Jesus did? He laid hands on the sick and made the lame walk. He cast out devils and caused the blind to see. Greater works than these shall ye do!!! If Jesus could do these things, then we can do these things and greater! When’s the last time you’ve done any of these things? I don’t know about you, but I haven’t done many of these things. But if Jesus has promised it to us, then I want it. By the declaration of the Word of God, we can have it. When you begin to allow Christ to live within you, you will begin to be a partaker of all of His promises. You are an heir and joint heir with Christ and everything that belongs to Jesus, belongs to YOU! You have been raised up and seated in a position of authority over ALL the principalities and powers of darkness.
“How come I don’t see these things working in my life?” Because you lack faith. The reason so many of us are defeated in our day to day lives is because we fail to recognize who we are as the sons of God! We allow Satan to lie to us and convince us that God’s Word is not true, that it’s impossible to do the things God says we can do. Beloved, with man these things are impossible, but with God all things are possible. When Satan comes and tells you that you can’t do something, then you immediately know you can do it! Why? Because he is liar and the father of lies! Lying is his nature, and He hasn’t told the truth yet!! When you know who you are in Christ, Satan can’t mess with you. It doesn’t mean he won’t try, but it means he won’t be victorious, unless you allow Him to. You only get in trouble when you forget who you are in Christ. You lose sight of this truth when you get too busy or start trusting your emotions. And that allows Satan access back into your life, and he begins to strip you of that power and that victory. Don’t let Satan take any ground back that you’ve taken from Him and that you’ve been given by the grace of God!
Friends, we are made complete in Him! You no longer have to be that beat down, drug out individual who is a slave to fear and doubt and turmoil. God’s Word says you’re complete. You are a child of God by faith in Christ Jesus. You are not some lone individual standing against the powers of Hell but a powerful member of the body of Christ; and when Satan is messing with you, he’s messing with Jesus. And you know what? Jesus has already defeated him!!! You are eternally secure! The only way you can be lost and defeated is if you choose to leave God. Free will brought you to Him, and your free will can take you away. DON’T QUIT!!
As we close out this series I want to end with this thought. The thing that will bring you victory in EVERY situation is Christ in you the hope of glory. It’s all done by Jesus. Even though we have been made a little lower than God himself. Even though the Word of God tells us that “Ye Are Gods”, let’s not forget who made you a God. Never forget who has redeemed you and brought you to this place of total victory. It’s JESUS! All the things we’ve talked about in the last few weeks are because of Him, and if He is not totally the Lord and Savior of every area of your life, then these great and precious promises He has given you will not manifest themselves. They are only appropriated to us by our absolute total surrender and our faith in Him. So go out and get what’s rightfully been given to you as a son of God!! Be like Joshua and Caleb and say we can take this land! Be like Elisha and say “there’s more for us then there are for them”. Step out of the boat like Peter and walk on water! Greater things then these shall ye do, because I go to the Father! It has been said, YE ARE GODS!!!
