  • Scripture: “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4-5

I hope you enjoyed last week’s inside look into Finish the Race Ministries. This week we want to pick up on our two part series we began a couple weeks back entitled “He is Risen”. In part one we looked at the fact that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose again so that we can live victorious in Him. Today, we want to look at another thing Jesus did on the cross. It doesn’t get as much recognition, but the fact is that he died so that we could be healed also.

thSXYHEGJZThe same provision that bought our salvation got us our healing as well. The Word of God says that it pleased God to bruise Him. It pleased God for Jesus to become guilty. He took our shame and our reproach so that we might be innocent. So that we could be made whole. It actually pleased God to make Jesus sick with your sickness and have pain for your pain! WOW! WHAT LOVE!! We need to remember what He did for us. He went through all that He went through (the nails, the crown of thorns, the beatings, the mocking…) not just for our sins, but for the healing of our bodies.

Do you count that common today? What do you turn to when you begin to feel sickness or pain? Who do you turn to in dealing with your chronic ailments? Do you look to the natural or do you look to the supernatural? Beloved, every time you pop a pill without thinking about Him, you basically are blowing off what Jesus did. Our weapons are spiritual, and they are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. Satan laughs at you when you look for another pill to pop, or search for another doctor to visit, or book another vacation to go on instead of trusting in God. “I just need thIFXU3DZNrefreshing. I just need some rest.” What you need is deliverance! What you need is the power and presence of God! Now we know medicine and doctors are not evil. There is nothing wrong with taking a pill or seeing a physician. Let’s make that clear. However, these natural methods are never good when they replace God. We are talking about a heart attitude. Malachi 4:2 says, “The sun of righteousness will rise with healing in His wings.” Jesus is our medicine, our cure, and our health!!

“So how do I see this healing begin to manifest?” You need to become prayer warrior. You need to become a man or woman of faith. Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His word and healed them.” Friends, there is healing power in the Word of God! It’s life to those who find it and health to all their flesh (Proverbs 4:22). What are you going to do with what the Word of God tells you? James 5:15 says, “The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise them up.” Begin to grab hold of these promises and declare them. Don’t take another pill or go to another doctor without remembering Him first! See that work finished! Your healing is a done deal. The price has already been paid! PRAISE GOD!! When you pray expect to be healed, and if you’re not healed right away then keep believing. Don’t let go of His word and lose faith just because you don’t see immediate results.

The promise of healing is not just for us to receive, but also for us to given. Do you really understand the authority you have as an ambassador of His kingdom? Luke 9:1-2 says, “He gave them power andthP6EOATFD authority over all devils and to cure diseases.” This power is given to us too! You have been called as ambassadors to preach the gospel, cast out devils, and lay hands on the sick! Jesus looked on the multitudes and was moved with compassion. What about you? We need to be as bold in our proclamation of healing as we are about salvation and forgiveness of sins! Jesus was available to anybody who needed healing. He was never too busy to touch those in need. The Word of God says that as many as touched Him were made whole! That applies to you and anybody you come in contact with. So as we close for today, don’t limit the cross to just half of what Jesus did. “He was wounded for your transgressions. He was bruised for your iniquities AND by His stripes you are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5). Look to Him today! Reach out and touch Him, and you will be made whole!!
